  • For more than a quarter-century, the Animal Legal Defense Fund has been fighting to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system.
  • The Animal Protection and Rescue League is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego which works to document and expose animal cruelty occurring behind closed doors.
  • Visit the ASPCA website to learn how to fight animal cruelty, read expert pet care advice, and view dogs and cats available for adoption.
  • C.C. Baird was America’s most notorious dog dealer. For years, he supplied the country’s research labs with thousands of animals. Some of the dogs were strays. Others were suspected to be stolen pets. One fearless animal right’s group-Last Chance for Animals (LCA)- was desperate to shut down Baird’s multi-million dollar operation. LCA succeeded in placing one of its agents undercover for six months inside Baird’s Arkansas kennel to videotape the hideous crimes committed against the dogs. This is the story of that harrowing investigation and its historic outcome.
  • Last Chance for Animals (LCA) recognizes that animals have the ability to experience pain, and as such they deserve certain basic rights protecting them from pain caused by humans. LCA believes that non-human animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional "usage" of animals.
  • Dogs deserve better than to live as chained dogs or penned dogs. Dog chaining or dog penning is not acceptable, and we must work together to unaccept it. A chained dog lives as a prisoner, yet longs to be a pet. Help us help them today.
  • Kinship Circle believes all beings possess the right to exist in their natural environment and express behaviors significant to their kind. When animals are viewed as "things for human use," and thus denied the primary protections humans enjoy, they are victims of speciesism, a discriminatory benchmark similar to race, religion, gender, sexual preference or age.
  • The American Humane Association has been protecting children and animals from cruelty, abuse and neglect for over 130 years.
  • The Clark County Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and adoption of cats and dogs. A wonderful group of over 550 members, our goal is to assist the lost, surrendered, unwanted, and unloved cats and dogs of the area. We care for them as if they were our own beloved pets while we search for their rightful owners, or try to find them a suitable new home. All of our volunteers are so very proud that we are one of the few no-kill shelters in the state!
  • Animal abuse database: search for animal cruelty cases and animal abusers in your area. Monitor important cases with CaseWatch, and stay on top of local criminal animal cruelty court dates with CourtWatch.
  • Let your heart guide your hands:
be a Good Samaritan to animals

Prepare now to help animals in need, to be a Good Samaritan for pets and animals. Animal abuse, neglect, and distress is epidemic, is often institutionally supported, and is worldwide. You may find animals in distress in your own neighborhood. Be prepared to take reasonable, safe action to help them. Sunbear needed help and didn't get it; he died slowly and painfully of neglect. This site is dedicated to his memory in hopes of encouraging you to be a Good Samaritan.
  • The Mosby Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education.

To insure Mosby's legacy of kindness and compassion to all he met endures, Carole Adams set up "The Mosby Foundation." The purpose of the foundation is to raise money by donations and contributions to give dogs the second chance in life that Mosby was given.
  • It is cruel to leave a dog on a chain 24/7. YOU can make a difference in the life of a chained dog! Learn 20 ways to help a chained dog and how to pass anti-chaining laws...
  • Pit Bull Rescue Central is a virtual shelter for homeless Pit Bulls, Am Staffs and Pit Mixes.
  • Best Friends Animal Society runs the nation's largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. Best Friends operates a low-cost spay/neuter program, runs a wildlife rehabilitation center, sponsors a network of members in rescue, provides foster care and humane education, and works with humane groups nationwide to bring about a time when there will be No More Homeless Pets.
  • The HSUS takes a stand against puppy mills on all possible levels, including supporting legislative changes, conducting investigations and litigation, and promoting public awareness and education. The HSUS also works with local authorities when called upon to help shut down the most abusive puppy mills.

But it's important to know that, in most cases, puppy mills are not illegal. In every state, a breeding kennel can legally keep dozens, even hundreds, of dogs in cages for their entire lives, as long as the dogs are given the basics of food, water, and shelter. While The HSUS is opposed to puppy mills, The HSUS can not shut down or raid legal businesses. The HSUS is not a government, law enforcement, or regulatory agency.

Because most puppy mills are not illegal, we need help from the public to put an end to the consumer demand for their "product." You can help The HSUS put a stop to puppy mills by getting your next dog from either:

    1) an animal shelter or pet rescue group
    2) a well-screened, responsible breeder.

  • This site is approaching its sixth year since creation and we are pleased with our growth. There are over 800 full text cases (US, Historical and UK) and over 1000 U.S. statutes fully available on the site, with Michigan and California being very comprehensive. More importantly, we have over 46 topics that give the viewer directions and comprehensive explanations on some of the more interesting issues of the animal area. We also have a number of legal articles addressing a wide variety of animal topics. This is the best way for non-lawyers to access the information. The international collection continues to expand. The navigation bar to the left allows access to all of our content; please review the categories available to click into the site

It is now apparent that this will be an endless process, requiring the efforts of many individuals. A tax-deductible donation will help us expand and support the collection on this site. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
